When should I wash my pyjamas?

What is the ideal frequency to wash your pajamas?

A nightlife uniform par excellence, pajamas are now a stylistic piece in their own right, which we now choose with care and consideration.

Indeed, if we put it on every night to curl up in its comforter and enjoy a good night's sleep, this garment as those we wear during the day, must be cleaned regularly.

In 2015, an English survey showed that women waited an average of 17 days to wash the outfit against 13 days for men.

So 2 weeks, 1 week, 2 days? The duration can vary depending on many factors.

Experts advise washing your favorite outfit after 2 to 7 days.

For Pierre Parneix, a hygienist at the Bordeaux University Hospital, "you can rather change it once a week if you shower in the evening and if you don't sweat too much."

While the dermatologist Catherine Laverdet recommends washing it more regularly "If you don't wear underwear under your pajamas, you wash them every other day".

But remembering to wash your pajamas at the right frequency is not the only thing that keeps them clean. In fact, it is essential to choose a washing program that matches your needs and materials. Be sure to read the label to know the best practices to follow to take care of the material.

At Quartier Libre, we recommend a 30° machine wash, preferably on a delicate program in order to keep the same quality after many washes.

We also recommend air drying, which is more ecological and natural fabrics dry faster.

Finally, if necessary, an ironing at low temperature at 110°C on the reverse side.

Knowing that you are wearing clean pajamas can even help you to sleep better.
